Durable Phone Cases: The Ultimate Armor for Your Phone

Juggernaut Expands Their Line of Phone Cases and Mounts

In our recent comprehensive review of the ruggedized Juggernaut durable phone cases and mounting ecosystem (published in Issue 53), we delved into the details of this innovative product. Now, Juggernaut is back and has announced the release of a new, expanded line of phone cases and mounts. The good news is that both the cases and mounts are backward compatible. If you already own a legacy mount, the new cases will still fit perfectly. Likewise, if you decide to invest in one of their new-generation mounts, your existing phone case will seamlessly fit into it without any issues.

Introduction to Juggernaut's Previous Phone Cases

Prior to the release of the new line, Juggernaut offered two phone case options: the IMPCT and the SLEEV. The IMPCT was designed for “medium-to-hard” use, while the SLEEV provided even greater armor for extra-rough handling and optimization for Juggernaut's power and data transfer cables. However, Juggernaut's latest line offers three case options, catering to a wider range of use-cases.

Juggernaut Case Everyday ENDVR: Casual Protection for All Occasions

Sitting on the more casual end of the spectrum is the ENDVR case. This front-load “snap on” case allows you to simply press your phone into the corners of the case until it stretches and snaps securely over your device. While this may sound like a typical commercial phone case, the ENDVR stands out in various ways.

Optimized for everyday carry (EDC) and weekend warrior adventures, the ENDVR doesn't feature a port sealing mechanism like its counterparts. However, it still seamlessly locks into Juggernaut mounts. Whether you require a belt clip for your work pants, a PALS pack adapter for your weekend trail pack, or a vehicle mount for road trips, the ENDVR will securely fit into any existing Juggernaut mounting interface — with one caveat. Due to its sleek design, you'll need to opt for a mount size smaller than usual.

Extreme ADVNTR and Tactical OPRTR: Superior Protection for the Demanding User

For those seeking greater protection, Juggernaut offers the larger ADVNTR and OPRTR cases. These top-load cases, instead of snap-on ones, feature a hinged top cover and a port-sealing mechanism on the bottom. The ADVNTR seals with a pop-off rubber gasket, while the OPRTR is equipped with a buffered bottom plate that securely attaches to the case using two screws. Both cases can be completely removed and stowed away when not required for daily use.

The ADVNTR and Operator cases both boast additional material built up around the edge of the screen, providing a deeper offset for the phone. This extra protection is particularly useful for those prone to dropping their phones on their face, as the offset can potentially prevent a cracked screen. Furthermore, the OPRTR model appears to be an even more up-armored version of the ADVNTR, boasting a slightly taller profile and more material all around.

Design Improvements for Enhanced User Experience

Our editorial staff were big fans of the previous-gen IMPCT Juggernaut phone cases, using them extensively in various environments. The new line of cases offers distinct improvements. In addition to the scalability of protection levels, all three of the new case models feature enhanced texturing and rubberized grip material around the edges. With the older cases, increased wear smoothed out the untextured plastic edges, making our phones more prone to slippage and drops.

The new case models, however, eliminate this issue. Another notable addition is the SHLD screen protector, which provides additional protection and is available in blue light blocking and privacy-protection variants. Juggernaut has even paid attention to detail in the design aesthetic. The large military-style labels have been relocated from the outside to the inside of the case, and the interior now features subtle artwork resembling topographical lines on a map. Additionally, each case boasts a cheeky one-liner or movie quote inside. While you'll only see it when loading your phone into the case, it adds a touch of uniqueness and collectability to an otherwise utilitarian product.

Options Galore: Colors and Pricing

The new Juggernaut line also introduces additional options in terms of colors. The ADVNTR and OPRTR are available in black, flat dark earth (FDE), olive drab (OD) green, and gunmetal gray. The more urbanized ENDVR case comes in black, stone green, gunmetal gray, and a limited-edition Tundra gray. Pricing varies based on the level of protection provided: $65 for the ENDVR, $80 for the ADVNTR, and $145 for the OPRTR. The SHLD screen protector is an additional $50 to $60, depending on the model. Even with the highest prices, you're still looking at a little over $200 to not only safeguard your smartphone to the level necessary for literal battlefield use but also take advantage of a wide range of mounting and carriage options that can be integrated into virtually any imaginable use case — from belt clips and dashboard docks to skydiving harnesses and body armor.

Availability

At present, these new case lines are only available for Samsung Galaxy S22 phones, with limited availability for S22 Plus and Ultra models. Juggernaut has assured us that iPhone 14 models will be supported soon.
